SPPK was incorporated in 1971 as Syarikat Kemajuan Perumahan Pegawai-pegawai Kerajaan Sdn Bhd (SKPPK), and had its name changed to the current SPPK in 1975.

Ever since inception, the company has undertaken a number of projects in and around the Klang valley such as the development of Bukit Damansara, Taman Kelana Jaya, Taman Melati and Taman Bukit Cheras. In 1984, SPPK acquired a piece of land in Cheras, which was to be developed as Alam Damai. Alam Damai was launched in 1998. This well-planned township marked the beginning of an impressive record for the company.

SPPK launched another township in the Bukit Jalil vicinity in early 2005. Alam Sutera, as it is called, is a 71-acre project comprising of high-end residential. The company also launched another high-end residential project in late 2005. Developed in the last parcel of land in Bukit Damansara, Seri Beringin is a 42-acre enclave designed to be the next respite for the opulent.

SPPK is also overseeing the development and management of the group's Alam Impian Township in Shah Alam which was launch in November 2006.
